Lutheran World Relief (LWR) Kits

Lutheran World Relief is a ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) in international relief, development, advocacy and social responsibility.
One of the many things we do in conjunction with LWR are kits. School Kits contain essential supplies to help children continue learning despite poverty and the hardships of natural disasters, war or living in a refugee camp. Each kit contains: 4-70 page notebooks, 1 30-centimeter ruler, 1 pencil sharpener, 1 pair blunt scissors, 5 unsharpened #2 pencils, 5 black or blue ballpoint pens, 1 box 16 or 24 crayons, 1 2 ½” eraser, 1 sturdy drawstring backpack style cloth bag
At the end of the summer when school supplies go on sale we focus on how many school kits we can make.

Personal Care Kits provide people in refugee camps and in the world’s poorest communities with a few simple items that can mean the difference between sickness and health. Each kit contains 1 light-weight bath size towel, 2 bars of soap, 1 toothbrush, 1 sturdy comb, 1 metal nail clippers (file optional)
During Lent we focus on making Personal Care kits for those in need.

Baby Care Kits – In refugee camps, hospitals, and villages around the world, Baby Care kits convey a warm welcome to newborns and their mothers. Each kit contains: 2 lightweight cotton t-shirts, 2 long or short sleeved gowns or sleepers (without feet), 2 receiving blankets, 4 cloth diapers, 1 jacket, 2 pair of socks, 1 hand towel, 2 bars of soap, 2 diaper pins
